Ecuador visa requirements for Chinese citizens
In an effort to facilitate and streamline the process of entering the country, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility of Ecuador has announced new visa requirements for Chinese citizens wishing to visit Ecuador as tourists. This change, effective immediately, seeks to simplify the arrival of Chinese visitors as of July 2024.
According to Ministerial Agreement No. 0000064, issued on June 11, 2024, all citizens of the People's Republic of China will need to obtain a visa before entering Ecuador. This requirement is applicable exclusively for those entering the country for tourism purposes.
Required Documentation - Visa Requirements for Chinese Tourists
To apply for a visa, Chinese tourists must present the following documents:
- Full names of the applicant.
- Name of the tour operator in China and Ecuador with whom the trip was arranged.
- Confirmed travel dates (arrival and departure from Ecuador).
- Recent color photograph in JPG format, size 5x5 cm, with white background and neutral facial expression or natural smile.
- Valid passport at least six months before the return date.
- Criminal record certificate legalized or apostilled and translated into Spanish, valid for 180 days from its issuance.
- Detailed travel itinerary and copies of round trip tickets.
- Bank certificates proving minimum income of USD 460 for each month of planned stay in Ecuador.
- Payment of the corresponding fee: USD 50.00 for the application and USD 30.00 for the tourist visa fee.
Application Procedure:
Those interested should go to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility or to any of the Embassies and Consulates of Ecuador in China to start the visa process. Additionally, tour operators and travel agencies are instructed to send lists of Chinese tourists with the required information to the e-mail pablo.chamorro@turismo.gob.ec to expedite the process due to the urgency of the case.
This new requirement is implemented with the objective of ensuring a safe and organized travel experience for Chinese tourists, and will remain in effect until the implementation of a digital platform for visa issuance by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility.
